We often have enquiries about music tuition. If you love music and would like to pursue learning an instrument/singing further we’ are able to offer our guidance/tuition. Here’s a few of thoughts on teaching and information that we hope will be useful.
Enjoyable Musicianship
Through teaching music our priority is to aid and support all students in playing/singing to the best of their ability and to reach their fullest potential. The basis of our tuition is to help students make music in a way that provides an opportunity for many years of enjoyment of an instrument and/or singing and music; developing confidence, concentration and focus through exploration of safe techniques, reading music of various styles and performance practise.
Embarking on studying and exploring an instrument/singing requires dedication, commitment and focus with the awareness of techniques that are regularly put into practise over time. We work with students to provide guidance with practise structures, study plans and nurture their enthusiasm and talents. Learning more about music and making music can often give a student a new form of expression and most often helps develop confidence, presentation and communication skills.
Performance Audition and Recording Goals
We believe no musical tuition is complete without the opportunity to put the learning into practise and through performing to others. These moments of focus and experiences are consolidation for all of the lessons and practise. Performances build confidence, explore presentation. We encourage all our students to perform (even if it may only be to family, friends (or pets!) to begin with.) If a student already has performance/audition/examination opportunities that is great and we can help with preparations towards this. We aim to provide opportunities for students to share their music making if they wish to do so – Recording and performance activities can be scheduled alongside learning. Our aim is to support and bring music making and talent to new audiences – whilst supporting the student with the materials, skills and goals required to present their developing skills to the highest level.
Music Mastery & Improvisation
To be able to improvise and compose on a chosen instrument requires theoretical knowledge of music and your instrument. Our Music Mastery and Improvisation Course is a weekly session designed to allow you to express yourself from day one through your own music. With less focus on reading music and more on understanding of instrument technique through recognising the patterns that can help you make great music and develop your unique style.
